Earth Wisdom Retreat in Tanzania: November 9-20, 2026

Last March, we gathered on the slopes of Mount Meru for our retreat in Tanzania. This November, Earth Wisdom is returning to Africa, this time journeying deeper into its most remote and wild lands. Join Kathi and Nando as your facilitators, traveling into the ancient Rift Valley, the sacred land of the nomadic Masai people, and working with the medicines of the four directions.

The Complete Journey

Part 1: Ngare Sero Mountain Lodge (5 Nights)

We're excited to return to this eco-sanctuary on the slopes of Mount Meru, which has been stewarding the land for nearly 15 years, helping to provide electricity and safe drinking water to surrounding villages.

The property features cozy cottages, ceremony platforms with Kilimanjaro views, yoga and dance spaces, and healing areas for bodywork.

Situated on the Usa River, the lodge is nestled within 50 acres of lush forest, home to 200+ varieties of birds, giant Mother Trees, and spring water. This first part of our journey is devoted to making offerings, to the land, the water, and the trees that have watched over for generations.

Hiking Excursion to Arusha National Park

A short drive will bring us into Arusha National Park, where giraffes and antelope wander free. We'll visit the crater floor of Mount Meru, stand beneath the Big Mother Tree, and make our way to a waterfall, making offerings at each stop along the way.

Part 2: Immersive Outpost on Masai Land (6 Nights)

From the Ngare Sero lodge, we'll take private planes into the remote Rift Valley, with scenic views of wildlife across the plains, Lake Natron, and the sacred Ol Doinyo Lengai volcano. Our outpost is totally immersed in the wilderness, as far off the beaten path you can go into sacred Masai land, one of the last nomadic herding cultures on Earth still living close to the old ways.

This is a cultural immersion opportunity like no other. Expect to sing, dance, drum, and marimba alongside their masters. And in the evenings, elders will share their oral history and ancient wisdom.

Accommodation at Lake Natron
To immerse ourselves in the wild nature of Lake Natron, we will stay in glamping tents built from recycled plastic and canvas, with perfect views of the active Ol Doinyo Lengai volcano rising across the plain. All power is solar, and waste is composted, so our footprint is reduced. Each tent is furnished with comfortable beds to rest between ceremonies. Meals are prepared with care and shared beneath open sky with flamingos on the lake and stars overhead.
