In early summer, as the yaks of the high Himalayas shed their winter coats, herding families in Bhutan comb out the soft down beneath by hand. They call it khullu. The work is gentle, since the yak is already letting it go, and each animal gives about 400 grams a season.

Our ponchos use the down of young yaks. The result is lightweight, warm, and softer than sheep's wool, with none of the itch.

Every strand is spun by hand on a drop spindle, the portable tool herders have carried on the move for centuries. Today, cheaper machine-made yarn makes it hard for these artisans to compete. Each hand-spun piece helps keep their craft alive and sustain their livelihoods.

We believe cloth holds high-frequency energy from the hands that made it. So we choose fibers that are natural and touched by passionate artisans at every step.

Down the spine runs an embroidered kira, cut from the traditional temple dress of Bhutanese women. It's woven thread by thread on a backstrap loom for up to a year. Its patterns are traditionally worn for protection and blessing. Here, it travels with you because every day is sacred.
