This okama necklace was beaded by hand on a small table loom. The pattern moves in geometric rows before opening into a border of beaded leaves in red and yellow. This is a technique passed from mother to daughter across generations of Emberá-Chamí women in Colombia.

This piece carries the energy of the hands and devotion of the women who made it. No two are ever quite the same.
