Earth Wisdom Reflections

Life’s little rituals – they unite us.

Dance.
Prayer.
Song.
Gratitude.
Story telling.
Nurturing body, spirit and mind.

All of these practices are echoes of sacred ceremonies that originated long ago. Echoes from when we moved slower. Back when we lived in harmony with nature.

Practicing rituals today is how we bind the past to the present. And it’s how we can tap into ancient Earth Wisdom.

Information is memorized, wisdom is experienced
We internalize the earth, it teaches our being, our body. It is nutritious.

Teachers lecture about the natural world at school. We call it biology. We memorize formulas and terms to explain everything from how water moves up tree roots, to how our brains store memories. This is mere information. It can be accessed in seconds with a quick Google search.

True wisdom is gained from exposure and experience. And Earth Wisdom is rooted in the time spent with nature.

Walk in a forest as it comes alive in the springtime and observe the birds, bees, and animals at work, moved by a mysterious force. They know where to forage for food, and they intuitively sense when danger is near. If you rest under a tree, feet on the Earth, tuned into the present moment, you can experience the wisdom of nature.

You might have heard that bees dance to communicate. Their movements have been studied and given definitions. The “round dance” tells other bees where to find nearby flowers. The speed of their “waggle” indicates the quality of the flower field.

But how do bees come to know their intricate dance?

This is Earth Wisdom.

("The Frequency of Sweetness" by artist Autumn Skye)

It moves in bees, fish, flowers, rivers, and mountains as they complete their collective purpose, to maintain the intricate balance of life.

Earth Wisdom moves in you too.

How can we open this channel and tap more into Earth Wisdom?
We begin by humbling ourselves.

We tend to believe we're smarter than nature and we try to control it. This tendency is inherent to the human mind—a filter shaped by the ego through which we perceive the world.

As much as we’d like to govern the Earth and decide where water flows, when it flows, how it flows, and to whom it flows — not a chance. Climate change reminds us that we can’t request predictability from nature. The storms we’re seeing nowadays are breaking dams.

We have to break our own dams, and detach from our urge to control. Simply be and stay open to the messages that come through. When you lean in and respect the beat of the Universe, you can tap into Earth Wisdom.

Finding community

Earth Wisdom is a movement. Our community gathers for retreats, workshops, and online courses centered around ancient rituals, gratitude, and integration. We come to nature in peace, to be seen, to be heard, and to be recognized as we walk and dance with purpose in this life. You can check out upcoming opportunities to connect on our Event Page.

Like the bees and their language of dance, what is an instance where you noticed the wisdom of nature?
We'd love to hear about your experiences in the Comments below!
